The Walgett Shire has a rich and diverse history, both pre and post European settlement. The Society is committed to making this history available for future generations. As an individual you can help in many and varied ways.
- Donate to Walgett Distric Historical Society
- Send the society photographs and information of historical events and happenings so they can be placed on the World Wide Web or added to our extensive records
- Help us with the many genealogical inquiries we receive
- Photograph and record old buildings, cemeteries and historical features as they appear today. We can share them on our website.
- Show your support by joining the Society and receiving historical information about the Shire.
- Join us in fellowship and help keep our museum regularly open to the public at least once a month and when organised groups make a booking.
- Support our social functions by coming along and meeting like minded persons
- Let us know about historical features that need to be preserved and we will contact the relevant organisations with you or on your behalf.
The Shire history is our past, present and future. Help keep it alive by helping the society. Be inspired by the words of the famous American anthropologist, Margaret Mead
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.” |
